He is currently being fostered through Pug Rescue of Florida \u0026amp; Georgia.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJerry's story:  Three months ago, Jerry and his brother were surrendered  to PRFG by their breeder. They were told that the one puppy had an injury. Then they were told it was hip dysplasia. But when they picked him up, they knew it was more than that. Jerry couldn't walk very far without stumbling and falling and struggled to stand up. Foster mom took Jerry to veterinarians, specialists, neurologists and then on to diagnostic testing. Jerry's journey led them to an MRI and what it revealed, changed everything.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe MRI showed that Jerry had Congenital Vertebral Malformation, also known as CVM. Several of the vertebrae in Jerry's upper back did not form normally, creating an abnormal curve in his spine that is compressing his spinal cord. So what now?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is hope. Jerry is a candidate for an extensive spinal reconstruction. It's not a simple surgery. Surgeons will need to relieve the severe compression on his spinal cord and stabliize his spine using bone grafts and specialized vertebral implants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt will be a major surgery. The recovery will be long and there are no guarantees. But Jerry has something today that we weren't sure he would ever have: a chance! A chance for greater mobility. A chance for greater independence. A chance at the most normal life possible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo we decided to help Jerry along his journey. Every half pound bag purchased between now and September 1st will be entered into a drawing for a free 3 months of our monthly Subscription Boxes. Each half pound bag is an entry.
